Student Voice, Literacy and Numeracy Series 2022-23

Greater Victoria School District 61 and the Rural Education Advisory invite educators in BC to join in a conversation about engaging all learners in the middle years. Our three-part interactive webinar series in 2022-23 will be hosted by Dr. Leyton Schnellert with special guests for each session focused on Student Voice, Literacy and Numeracy. Guiding questions for this series are:

  • How can we welcome the diverse funds of knowledge that middle years students have to deepen and personalize their learning?
  • How can we engage middle years learners with pedagogies that are student-centered, identity affirming, and diversity-positive?

Session 1:

Oct. 17, 2022 Session 1 topic: Practices that foster student voice, thinking and agency with special guests Melissa Burdock and Janice Moase. Nov 21, 2022 Session 2 topic: Numeracy practices that fosters student voice, thinking and agency with special guests Nikki Lineham and Shaheen Musani.
